I am selling a boat motor and trailer. All of it is paid for. I have registration for boat and trailer. Do I need a title for the trailer to be able to sell it? Would a notarized bill of sale be enough for the buyer to change it under his name?

I tried searching but nothing really answers the question.

The boat is fine as long as it is registered under your name. All the buyer needs is a notarized BOS (use the one provided by WLF) and registration with your name on it. The trailer needs a title for it to be transferred into the buyer's name. I've gone through this twice with boat trailers. If the trailer doesn't have a title then I'm not touching it with a 10 ft. pole.

Trailer should have a title don’t think dmv will issue plates without one.

There are titles on some boats and motors depending on year. Just be sure yours was never titled

Might be able to sell it in Mississippi easier unless I'm mistaken.

I received 3 titles with my boat. Trailer, motor, and boat all are titled. For some reason they titled the motor as a 2020 and titled the boat and trailer as 2021's... our state is weird.

The boat is a homemade mudboat with a briggs and stratton engine. I know both of those don't have titles. I don't ever remember receiving a title for the trailer. I have a permanent license plate so it never has to be renewed. Guess I am gonna have to look for the title.

If it's plated...it has a title.

You could probably bring that plate to the OMV and they could pull up your perm registration, and that would help you apply for a lost title.

this ^^^^

bring the registration for the trailer to your local DMV and they will mail you a replacement copy of the title for $80 or whatever it is now. many many years ago a replacement copy only cost you a few dollars but now a replacement copy costs the same as the actual title does.
