Anti-war, anti-corruption, anti-media isn't the same thing as what Isbell/DBT is doing. Sturgill isn't a partisan hack.

Sturgill is honestly one of those artists that as long as he isn't touching kids I dont give a frick what he thinks about literally anything

I was drinking beer on the backroads on my mule earlier tonight and the cutting grass version of oh sarah came on. this guy is a gift idgaf

mimicry yes

However it's usually spot on and genre specific. While his own voice a breath of fresh air. When doing Doc it's nearly the same mote on note baritone, when bluegrass (or Del) it's that special high-lonesome, which is Stanleyesque, nasally, and probably what you dislike, and his Jerry is hauntingly harmonic.

Don't remember Sturgill putting politics into his music. Where did that happen?

I put anti-war songs in a different bucket than politics. I know it is technically politics though.

He also went on the Trillbillies podcast which is a socialist podcast in Kentucky to badmouth trump and McConnell, but he didn’t do it in his music
