Them Crooked Vultures is definitely one of my most loved super groups.
Oysterhead runs a close second.

+1 for Oysterhead.

I got to see them five times. The first was at Les Claypool’s Frog Brigade’s post-Phish show at the Hard Rock in Vegas on 9/30/00. Everyone was expecting Trey to show up. Nobody was expecting Stewart Copeland to show up for an Oysterhead reunion as an encore. That was just their second performance since their debut in New Orleans.

Then I saw a run of four shows to kick off the Midwest portion of their 2001 tour in November of that year. Chicago -> West Lafayette -> Ann Arbor -> Cleveland. They didn’t have a huge repertoire and you mostly got the same songs every night but you got them in a different order and there was good diversity in the jams. I met up with friends in Chicago and Cleveland but I went solo to Purdue and Michigan. That was a great road trip.

We realize it. They just weren’t that good.

Whitesnake

For real, alot of people are unaware of the talent that ran through that band.

To name a few:

David Coverdale - Deep Purple
Tommy Aldridge - Ozzy
Vivian Campbell - Dio
Steve Vai

How has no one mentioned Damn Yankees yet? In case anyone forgot the lineup:

Tommy Shaw (Styx)
Jack Blades (Night Ranger)
Ted Nugent (The Amboy Dukes, solo)
Michael Cartellone

Cartellone was not really well-known at the time, but later joined Lynyrd Skynyrd.
