After LSU lost the No. 1 tight end from the 2020 class to the NCAA Transfer Portal, the Tigers needed to reload at the position in a big way. Ed Orgeron and his staff accomplished that in landing another No. 1 player at that position in Jake Johnson.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder from Oconee County High School in Georgia held on to that ranking in the updated Top247 on Wednesday and even climbed a dozen spots from the No. 79 prospect overall to No. 67.

Johnson had a huge showing at LSU’s first skills camp in June, dominating in the 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 portions of the camp. He showed wide receiver pass-catching skills with strong, consistent hands, and used his body very well to keep defenders at bay.

Can you imagine being their dad in the stands watching? Brad seems to be living well, I’m also sure they’ve put in quite a bit of love, support and hard work to get to this point.
