Would be nice but it's probably fake news to get people to forget about the debris that flew from that eyesore. Just removing the asbestos/mold from that eyesore would be prohibitive based on cost/time.

There is a poster on this board who used to live there. Said the views to the lake were unreal as, to this day, very little blocks the view from that building. Would be an absolute gem if they could get the remediation done.

The asbestos has already been fully remediated from the building.

This has been proposed a couple of times in the last 20 years. People talk a big game until they get the asbestos removal bill. You can't even demolish the thing because of that. Not sure what it will take to get it fixed or removed. Probably federal money.

My understanding is the asbestos has already been removed.

I know the owner and his operations. He actually just became a bit more liquid during COVID. He had stretched him self too thin.

This is his M.O. though. He buys dilapidated properties for cheap, then sits on them. He has them all over town...plaza tower is just more noticeable.

The challenge in demolishing this monstrosity isn't that there's anything toxic inside. It's that there's really not a great place for the debris to go during a potential implosion.

The top floors probably have a cool view.

Unless he was a state worker just living in his office, I doubt this. I don't think there have ever been residential units in there, but maybe I'm wrong.

Asbestos isn't the only reason why the building was a total bust from almost day 1.

It is an extremely poorly designed building. The interior is totally awful and a maze.

They would have to gut and redo the entire thing completely.

From what others have said, it’s not feasible to renovate into much of anything. The floor plan is extremely outdated of course and you can’t really just go in do what would be needed without spending a fortune.

I hope it happens and is successful. It’s an absolute travesty seeing that building just sittinf there dark, empty, and falling apart.
