In this head to head we are doing Character more so than the actor themselves.

I have been enjoying 2 series of late. Stargate SG-1 and NCIS....yes I am very late to the party on both. I really like both leads....so who ya got:

Jack O'neill - SG-1
Gibbs - NCIS

Bonus 3 way Pick'em (again, character not actress)

Ziva David - NCIS
Sam Carter - SG-1
Vala -SG-1

Disclaimer.....I am aware Pics are warranted here but I don't know how to post them so if there is any enterprising participant....have at it.

Never watched SG-1, so I don't know much about O'Neill.

But, it's kinda hard to beat Gibbs. USMC scout sniper. Goes to Mexico and kills the drug kingpin who killed his wife and daughter. Not only does he kill him, he kills him with a sniper shot from distance. Doesn't take shite off of anyone, but has a kind heart under that rough exterior.

If including the late to series entrant Vala, you gotta include Ziva's replacement too:

O’Neill shits all over Gibbs. He had the most advanced alien battleship in the universe named after him.

Air Force SpecOps as a colonel before the SG1 program and team he eventually led. Anything after just isn’t fair to Gibbs’ old arse.

Eventually became a Lieutenant General at the end.

I guess I have no right to gripe but I am only half way through season 7 of NCIS and this post makes me sad

Abby does have some serious appeal....

Side note I read somewhere that IRL she had some major beef with Mark Harmon (Gibbs). Never would have guessed that based on how their characters get along on screen....at least up to season 7.

Abby is a natural blonde. Look up her pictures, she looks so different with her natural color

Not a fair comparison. The actress who played Carter is almost 60 now. Granted, she still looks good, but she's old enough to be Ziva's mother.

If Stargate were to be done as a sequel to the original, Carter would literally be old enough to be a young 4-star.

I'd trust Gibbs with my life, and the lives of the ones I care about more. Despite him losing his own family, a director, and multiple co-workers. Hmmm...

O'Neil's best quality is that he doesn't give many fricks. If any at all. He's good to have around, but gets bailed out as often as does the baling.

Ziva is an all timer. No question.

I do have a thing for Carter's amazing big blue eyes, and her smarts, and *Vala is damn near indispensable. Fearless, smart, but will also turn on a dime and sell you out.

* If you've not watched Farscape, I suggest you do so next. Thank me later.

I like both shows, and really like Gibbs. That said, give me Jack. Sure, he's needed to get helped out a couple times more than Gibbs; he's also had to deal with worse issues.

Since we're talking character, not actor (I think Harmon beats Anderson):
Jack was a beast. A retired Air Force spec-ops guy who got involuntarily "unretired", because an ultra-secret military black operation needed to get the very best guy they could for the job. Had to be able to survive if isolated off-world, against a largely unknown, technologically superior alien threat, and be counted on to succeed, even if it meant suicide. We're talking Rambo-type guy with leadership skills.

In a fight? Character? Vala.

Will definitely check this out....but I think I have about 9 or 10 seasons of NCIS to complete first....talk about a time sink but I am pretty addicted at this point.

Since you're watching SG-1 and mention Vala:

you know to start watching Stargate Atlantis once you get to season 8, right? Spinoff with overlaps from there.
