Spot lock or electronics

Have a bayboat and fish mainly Leesville area. Got a little money to spend. Currently have 10 year old Humminbird and hand operated trolling motor. Would you suggest getting new electronics or new trolling motor with spot lock? Was thinking electronics but it sure would be easier to keep boat clean if I didn't have to use a damn anchor.

For your use, spot lock.

spotlock, electronics dont do much in marsh fishing minus give you depth.

You will appreciate the new trolling motor more than new electronics after one trip.
It's fairly easy to find 2 year old electronics to upgrade with at huge discounts.
National backorder on TM's so if you find one better buy it.

IF you mostly fish in 8ft of water or less get a power pole.
If you are over 8ft get spot lock.
If you are over 8ft get spot lock.

So, should I vastly overcharge for the brand new Ultrex I am getting soon? Auction?

Sounds like spotlock it is. Don't have money for powerpoles and I know I would end up forgetting to lift it up and break it within first couple trips.

Spot lock. Its life changing.
You should still keep an anchor on board for emergencies, but mine hasn't been out of the locker since I got an ipilot.

You'll be surprised what you get. I sold my old original model 36v terrova for $1000 in a day, and had 3 people all on their way to buy it.

If you can't swing powerpoles and spot lock then get spot lock and a cajun anchor. I don't know what I like better, hitting the button to drop the poles or hitting the other button to spot lock. Contour following is up there but that is more $$$ in the trolling motor and electronics.

debating now spot lock or Power Pole for a small 16' boat. Storage is an issue so not really anywhere to keep an anchor.
Probably wouldn't debate it too long if I could find an actual new trolling motor for sale.

Spot lock. Gonna be in 10 foot of water and power pole will be useless.

It depends on the type of fishing. In general i say spot lock because it will hold you no matter the depth of the water. But, if you only fish shallow ponds for redfish then power poles are better. If i run into a shallow pond chasing reds and the wind is blowing me into a direction i didn't want the trolling motor can fill the pond up with muddy water holding my on spot whereas if i had twin power poles i could turn it off. since you said Leeville this is how i assume you fish. If you are in deeper water more often spot lock is incredible. As far as electronics if you are fishing shallow water for the most part sonor is unuseable so save your money on the electronics.
