Plus, we’ve seen why happens when an elite QB lands on a team. They recruit free agents, like PM18 did while in Denver.

Manning and Brady were MVP winners, won All-Pros, been to a bunch of PBs, and been to Super Bowls. They had pull.

Watson has like 2 Pro Bowls and a 24 point blown lead to his name.

They aren’t the same.

They think Denver will give up 3 first rounders and 2 2nd rounders for him? Lol
Did I say I think they will?

Absolutely not. Would our QB problem be solved? Yes. But trading all those picks hamstrings you from fielding a competitive team around him.

If they do this their team will have just rebuilt the same situation Watson is leaving in Houston.

Brilliant!

Not really. That Houston situation was created by years of offensive line neglect, trading draft picks for pricey and mediocre to average starting players and never replacing defensive talent

A team like the Broncos would already have that in place and by the time that window closes, whatever picks you gave up would be in the past

can understand Watson wanting out of Houston but would lose a little respect for him if (for example) the Panthers offer the best package but then Watson vetoes the trade because he's rather go somewhere else.

Why would you lose respect for Watson because he wouldn't want to play in Carolina? He isn't obligated to do Carolina or Houston any solids because Carolina offered the best package. Houston is the one that gave him the no trade clause. He has every right to use it if a potential trade partner isn't a preferred destination of his.

And Houston is under no obligation to trade him to any particular team other than the one who offers them the best package.

Why would a random mock draft make Denver the favorite all of a sudden?
right?

OP worded the title terribly. Fanduel did make him the betting favorite completely separated from this Mock but that seems like they did that just to get in the news and to attract some action on that bet or another

I know there’s people who think Vegas controls everything, but for stuff like this they have no idea

I fail to see how that’s my fault.

The article and mock are clearly based on FanDuel’s betting odds and I even placed a question mark at the end of the thread title.

You’ve attached it like there’s a correlation making it appear as tho the mock is the reason why Denver would be the favorite to land Watson.

Also, from an article posted 4 days ago:
quote:

While there hasn't been any noticeable movement on the Houston Texans end, a number of sports books have made The Broncos the favorites to land the services of Quarterback Deshaun Watson via trade with the Houston Texans.

Both FANDUEL Sportsbook and BETFRED Sports have the Broncos at +150 as the team the 3-Time Pro Bowler is most likely to take his next snap for.

DRAFTKINGS Sportsbook and BETRIVERS both have the Broncos with the 3rd "worst" odds to acquire the 2nd highest rated passer of all-time at +400.
Deshaun Watson has also stated Denver is one of his preferred landing spots.
quote:

According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the Broncos have been specifically named as a team Watson has interest in being traded to this offseason.
Whether Denver lands him or not, nobody knows at this point. But there are hints at Denver being the favorite or one of the favorites.

I understand where you got that from, but you’ve worded it in a way that doesn’t present it that way. Which is why multiple people have misunderstood your title

The mock clearly coincides with the fanduel odds, as paragraphed in the OP.

You’re making a big deal out of nothing

The OP represents the title.

I’m not making a big deal on it, simply replied to someone who also brought it up.

Denver’s offense is light years ahead of Houston’s outside of QB. The defenses are probably comparable if we let move on from Miller and Kareem Jackson is shown the door or he regresses. There’s some quality young prices though such as Simmons (all pro) or breakout players (Malik Reed) on this defense still. Contrary to popular (casual) opinion, Denver’s drafting has been really solid the last few years outside of one draft. I was worried about Bolles never turning the corner but with his development he makes his draft choice hell of a lot better now.

My criticism of the move isn’t what it does for them year 1.

It’s that if you trade all your picks away you are cutting off your ability to replenish your talent as they leave rookie deals and need to be paid more money.

Add in the salary cap reduction and a QB who is now commanding a huge portion of the pie each year and that talent will hemorrhage and you will be replacing it without all the draft capital you just gave up.

If you think you can win in the next two years great, if not the margin for error just got very slim as other teams who have signed QBs to huge deals have found.

Watson barely effects the cap for next season and the salary cap reduction is a reaction to COVID, it will go back up as revenue goes back up (and will sky rocket with the new TV deals)

Replacing talent at other positions is a lot easier, especially later in the draft, than finding a super bowl caliber QB
