You really need to grab a cheap CRT. All my friends who play the retro games swear they look a thousand times better on an old CRT than on a modern tv.

It's possible, lol.

I think a smaller screen in general would work.

Been playing around with retropi itself today. Got it connected to wifi. Figured out how to download and save cheats. Also ordered some more controllers so I have the right controller for the main systems. N64, sega, playstation. The ones that came with it will work fine for NES and SNES.

Decided I really wanted the right controller for each one instead of trying to makeshift with some type of universal one.

Updates I made to my 1up cabinet:

- baw on tech board hooked me up with a 3d printed contraption that allows you to change your joystick from 4 way to 8 way just by lifting it slightly. supr cool

- swapped 2lb spring for 4lb. Makes the joystick feel much tighter like an arcade

- replaced 17" screen with 20"

- collapsible cupholder screwed into side of cabinet

- replaced built in speaker with 2.1 Cambridge soundworks I hadn't used in years. That bass

- 3do wireless controller for console games.

- cheap $16 2.4mhz wireless keyboard for on the fly adjustments to controls, etc

I highly recommend all these updates if you ever decide to put this into a cabinet.

resolution settings may be set low so some of the N64 games run smoother too
I'll post a pic of super mario 64 running on my 20" dell. Looks fantastic for a 20+ year old game.

You can also play with shaders to get scanlines, etc to simulate a CRT but I much prefer the way they look without that.
