After watching Crews the first game, I predicted he would become our most feared hitter. I was thinking it would take a little while, I was wrong, he is already our most feared hitter. This guy is a man amongst boys and he is only a freshmen. Three years of this guy sounds awesome to me.
Morgan has been as good as advertised. Luck wasn't on his side last night, hard hit balls that didn't fall but that will change. Great defense and I love he approach at the plate, minus the full turn around after every pitch.
Drost's first swing was nothing but air but I could see from one swing why people were saying he has a great looking swing. I think we will see more and more of Drost.
Thompson sure looked great but lets not get too carried away. Thompson struggled at 3B so much in the fall that Mainieri moved him back to his natural position of SS. Has he figured 3B out or just so happened to make some good plays with limited action? Hard to say at this point. If he is an every day starter, I would make the argument that they should flip him and Arnold and put Arnold at 3B.
Paul sure loved Safford from the beginning but I think part of that was he fit the criteria Paul loves. He is undersized but gritty, hard worker, baseball rat. I'm thinking Paul might have overhyped this guy a little but time will tell.
I liked what I saw from Wyeth. I actually think he is going to take a decent amount of weekend innings away from Milazzo.
I won't get into pitching too much but I will give a couple of thoughts. Edwards is considered a developmental pitcher and he already could be our best freshmen pitcher. Floyd seems to bring the best stuff, lets see if the control will be there. There was something about Coleman's pitches that just looked awfully hard to hit. I would not want to be in the batters box against him. Coleman could wind up being better than Edwards. Brady and Money looked just okay to me but both brought plenty of emotion.

If milazzo can’t figure it out at the plate, he might not play much, as good as he is defensively
Blake money is massive and looks to be like a Friday night guy down the road. Plus he looks like Kenny powers
There is a reason crews was the highest ranked freshman to not sign pro, and it’s obvious why
Tre might be my favorite player, just has a calmness and swag to him that you can’t teach

Yeah either Milazzo gives you some offense or you have to weigh what Wyeth can give you. Milazzo defensively you can't beat but he can't be the easy out at the bottom of the lineup.
I want to see more of Sanford and with Gio out he will get a big opportunity to state a case for more playing time.

It’s all of college baseball, next 2-3 years is going to be loaded with talent bc of that shortened draft

Lol, i dont care if milazzo hits .100, he will continue to play

Eh, idk about that. I think money develops into a weekend starter

Not sure how you can make a determination on safford. He has barely seen the field yet

You can keep Milazzo in the lineup IF you can find hitters at 1-8. You can't have 2-3 sub .220 guys at the bottom of the order.

With his penchant for holding runners, yes you can

They have a bright future I just wonder if PM will be around for their 3rd season. Everything will have to gel and fast

He doesn’t hit well enough for the couple of bad plays he made with runners on base this weekend. I know a catcher isn’t going to block every ball but there were a couple where it was bad technique and lazy. If you aren’t going to contribute with the bat at all like him you can’t afford to have those plays.
Wyeth and Travinski are better hitters. Milazzo doesn’t even look comfortable in his at bats.

Josh- absolutely the jury is still out on Safford. I don't doubt that he is a fine player but I think Mainieri has a little tendency to play favorites. Mainieri wants this kid to succeed because he is the type of player he loves. The cream will rise to the top, maybe that will be him, maybe not.

I never would have thought that Milazzo would take a seat to any catcher we brought in. I also don't think he has hit that bad. It's not like he is striking out or doesn't have any power. I think it was also mentioned that he battled some injuries this offseason. Wyeth just looked good enough that he could push Milazzo.
