Anyone know the cycle threshold for the Covid PCR test in Louisiana?

PCR cycle threshold is basically how long your Covid sample culture is allowed to grow before they can say it’s detected by their machines or not. This is a clever way to fudge Covid numbers.
I was wondering if LDH set any standard for the number of PCR cycles or ,at a minimum, reporting them. I can’t find anything on the web.

I believe it is up to the lab running the analysis. You'll have to check with each individual lab to see what their Ct threshold is.
Also they are likely changing the positive requirements? A positive with a high Ct (weak) will require a second test based on WHO recommendations. LINK. Hopefully they implement this sooner rather than later.

We don't report cycle threshold. That is determined by the lab, instrument running the test/kit, and the kit itself.
We don't provide that to LDH.
Just ask the laboratory what kit they are using. Best be EUA approved.

Does the state not require that the labs report these numbers to them? I feel like that’s really important.
The changes to the WHO recs are what had me thinking about this. It’ll be good for reducing false positives and opening up sooner, but my question is “why now”? It might be pretty obvious.

Each assay that is used has it's own CT positivity range determined by the manufacturer. If its an assay that has EUA, you can view the CT range in their FDA IFU.
