I got 156.3 and thought I had really hurt myself. I did it in my garage with almost no warm up. Mistake, mistake, mistake.

Hopefully you beat it quickly.

So far it's just been a bad cold, with some fatigue. Hope it stays that way. Symptoms started Wednesday.

Figured I'd start paying attention here to get some tips and advice over time. Just started Crossfit 2 1/2 weeks ago. a few years back I was into triathlon and was pretty fit from an endurance perspective. Several half ironmans and finished up with a full ironman. Took some time off that turned into 2 years of no real active lifestyle. That and a bit of a covid related alcoholism led to me being 210 lbs when I was at about 175 lbs before.

So far I have my good days and bad. Going 5 days a week right now. Proud of certain workouts, completely dejected in others. Yesterdays workout was a huge hit to my pride

200m run
8 box jump overs
Pullups (as many as you can get)

Restart every 1:30 seconds for 9 minutes.

I never made it to pull ups, clock restarted every time. For a person who used to be able to consider a 10 mile run and "easy" run if prescribed to be such, this was very eye opening to how unfit I am. And coming from having no real strength training in many years, this is fun so far

I guess this thread has started to die but I will comment on your post.

I would maybe rethink going 5 days in a week while you are starting. Nothing wrong with making sure you have enough recovery time between workouts while your body adapts. Listen to your body.

Today was a day of dejection, crashing back to reality.

It's my first week back after covid, and I had bronchitis just before that so my cardio, whole already not great, took a dive. All week I felt fine during cardio portion of WODs but today's kicked my arse, my asthma kicked in hard during box jumps and that was it.

Today:

Strict Press
40%x5
50%x5
60%x5
70%x3
80%x3
90%x3

Part B
12 min cap
50 S2OH 135/95
50 Box Jumps 24/20
50 Pull-ups

Finished Strict Press at 180x3, probably could have gotten 185x3 but I’m good with the 180.

I went over the cap of Part B at 12:40 Rx

20, 8, 8, 7, 7 on those S2OH sets. I should have just gone out in a blaze of glory and tried 30 unbroken out the gate.

Bench Day
40% x5
50% x5
60% x5
75% x5
85% x3
95% xAMRAP

4-5 Round
Max UB strict ring dips
15m KB SA Oh Carry (with another in the FR)
12 KB pull-thru per side while in the plank position

Climbed to 285 for a single on bench

Goal on the dips was to be vertical on the dips with no pike or forward chest lean. I stayed around 8 reps, some were hitting 12+ but those people were not following the proposed standard.

Anyone doing the open?

My gym has been backing away from it for 2 years, and switching times last year pretty much killed the last group that wanted to participate.

I’ll have to check how many are in at GCF

We used to get 100 people signed up and ran 6-8 heats of 10 people each on Friday night. The move to the new gym location happened right during the open 3 years ago, and the switch to the fall killed the enthusiasm.

CFHQ were idiots messing with it.

ETA: 24 signed up. The gym will have stuff going on Friday night again but a large number won’t be signed up.
