Does Brees make the retirement announcement on Feb 1st?

Everything is so calculated (including Brittany’s post today) from a publicity standpoint.
I am assuming there is some master planning with agents that let Rivers have his day in the spotlight today and then Drew will take Super Bowl week so NBC can push him all up and down media row.
Then it looks like Drew had to “think long and hard” about his decision (that is why he didn’t announce after the game).

Doesn’t he already have a broadcast contract? If he retires now he can actually cover the SB instead of getting, as you said, pushed all over the red carpet.

I think the last thing he wants to do right now is announce his retirement and then be at the Super Bowl for NBC.

I really do not expect anything before the June 1 cap break. They can potentially save $22M against the cap.
