Any secret to get ivy to grow to cover a brick fence?

Not sure if there is anything you could do with my suggestion.. But I had Ivy grow crazy when it got a few hours of the morning sun.. Same with the Boston ferns..

Wouldn't that be a wall?

Plant the proper ivy, one that has tendrels that help it adhere to the wall. Fig Vine is a good one and English ivy if it's in shade.

You might have better luck with moss, particularly if it gets shade. If you mix some mayo, pulverized moss, and water and roll on a light coating then you will have a nice moss covered fence within a few months

Plant fig ivy. Water. Depends on how thick you want but one every 10’ -15 ft part. It will start climbing in about 2 weeks.

English Ivy will do it easily. Probably will be too good, to the point tou won't be able ti get rid of it, if no longer wanted

AND, you'll struggle to make the brick and mortar look decent again due to all the tendrils grabbing a bite into it as it grows.

why in gods name would you want to do this?

Plant creeping fig. I have walls of it. Easy to maintain and very minimal bugs

Yeah that does happen. Wouldn’t let it grow on my house but looks great on a fence. When it gets thick it requires some maintenance to keep it looking good. Also wasp love to build a nest and some of those wasp sprays will spot kill the ivy. Don’t remember which one but you’ll figure it out sooner or later.
