LSU needs to capitalize on more Texas Talent this year.

I know the LA 2022 class is loaded and we do need to focus on locking down the state. Would love to get 14-15 of our top 16 guys in LA.

But Texas is right next door and we do pull great talent from there every year.

There are a lot of guys in 2022 with Texas leans. With Herman’s job uncertain we need to use that to pull a couple guys. If you look at Bama’s class this year they pulled a lot of Texas guys. No doubt they will do the same again. We need to do that. Especially some of those Big OL recruits.

Hopefully UT has another down year and talks of firing Herman swirl again and Aggies go back to being mediocre and LSU can sell recruits on getting back to the mountain top.

247 Texas Rankings
247 LA Rankings since I mentioned them

Aggies do not go back to being mediocre, they are on the rise. Their results on the field and recruiting have improved in recent year.

Alabama beat us to it. They got the #1 player in Texas at like 6 or 7 positions

frick that midget, he needs to retire!

Just saw this after my last post. That would be ridiculous! Don't think we've done that since I've followed recruiting the last 20 or so years.

Usually not that many LSU quality players in-state every year.

Texas AM had a team of mostly seniors this year. I don’t expect them to stay near the top nor do I expect them to beat us in the coming years.

We beat them for sure this year with Brennan and possibly with Max Johnson.

I, for one, will be very heartbroken to see Kellen Mond graduate

Yea would be nice to get a few more Texas guys. They stole the #1 Texas receiver from us. But I woulda traded him an the past rusher we lost for the OL twins.

I’d say the top 16 are LSU caliber if not into the 20 range.

Only Howard is in the top 50. But a good amount in the top 100 and most in the top 300.

We have a few from Texas committed already.

Almost every year, for sure. "Just wait until next year, Louisiana is loaded!"

And it usually is, but it's usually a dog fight for the top guys and we miss out on 1 or 2 and need to fill the spots with out of state kids.

Yea I think we’ve missed out on a few big time guys in the past 4 years. Most didn’t go to Alabama though. So that’s a plus.

All depends on who comes back. They played an awful lot of upper classmen this year and were one of the most veteran teams out there. With the rule allowing seniors to come back, will be interesting who does and doesnt for them.

If they can get a lot of those guys to return, no reason to think they wont be good next year, maybe not 11-1 good, but probably 9-3, 10-2 type good. However, if they have a mass exodus, I could see them falling back for at least next season, to maybe 7-5, 8-4. But you're right, Jimbo has recruited at a pretty elite level from 2019-2021 classes. Just depends on how much upper classmen experience they return from this year on how next year will go.

Would be shocked if Mond doesn’t return. Not an NFL QB. Fish will pay to stay.
That will keep AM I the mix.

UT - some of these Texas boys will keep going to UT no matter what.

We always land massive recruits from there like Nuss and Chassion. What we really need to do is pillage the state for Olineman

We will always get the skill position guys. What we need to do is change our strategy in recruiting OL. We need to pound the upper Mid West and East. Get some of those boys that are going elsewhere and sell them on coming play down here!

Mond is likely gone according to their guys. There’s a big push for the freshman Haynes King to be the starter. Their big question is if they can get their OL and DL to return. They are almost all Jr’s and Sr’s which served them well this year in a down year for the league.

I like you man!

I was thinking thst holding 10 of the top 15 would be spectacular.

Unfortunately, I think a mass exodus would leave us in danger of another season like the 2020 season, which would be really scary for long-term outlook. If we can keep mostly everyone, though, I think 10 wins is very much on the menu. It’s kind of nerve wracking how much is hinging on these leave/stay decisions. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that it could make or break the entire next era of LSU football.

If we come out of this off-season with a well-stocked roster and some good coaching hires, I strongly believe that we’ll be consistently contending for playoff spots for the next 5-10 years. If we come out with a bare bones roster and a lackluster coaching staff, it could be the beginning of the end for O.

The 2 I see with the most potential to leave would be RB Etienne (Clemson) (also we have a few rbs won’t take them all unless one moves positions I’d think) and Aj the WR (Ole Miss he lives with the Mannings)(watch his recruitment for a sneak into Arch’s future if think).

I’d say we should get any of the rest we want. If not it’s most likely because we chose to look else where.
