Thats not what happened. Defender didn't slide, just a very slight lunge. He was still standing on both feet. Was in a good position to stop the progress of the ball. The attacker jumped over the ball and landed 6" up the defender's leg. Easy foul committed by the attacker.

He didn’t jump at all. He did a roulette and at that point he had both feet in the air and the ball around the defender. At that point Fernandes is supposed to be allowed to land and if not and contact us made to his person it’s a foul. The guy stuck his leg out nowhere near the ball and directly in the path of Fernandes’ body.
For example, let’s say someone is dribbling and a defender slides in so the player chips the ball over the defenders body then proceeds to jump over the defender, then another defender comes across and the ball passes him, so instead he just puts his leg where the player is falling, and the player lands on the defenders leg, that’s not a foul on the attacker. I don’t see why you think this should be a foul on Fernandes’ it would never be called that way

So... he jumped. If both feet leave the ground, and they go high enough to go over the ball, and you do a 180 while in the air, you jumped.

The defender challenged past the ball and miss it, the ball didn’t go past his entire body but for purposes of the challenge the ball was around him. If he didn’t make contact with Fernandes then the ball would have been easily past him

They can start doing that whenever they finally start penalizing people in situations where the defender fouls an attacker in the area but the attacker doesn’t go down

I agree with this. The tackle attempt could be a straight red and if the forward avoids the tackle by jumping out of the way they should go back and cars to defender

The one against Leicester is a legit penalty, but the others by Mane are absolutely shocking. Thankfully they're so bad the referee doesn't give them in most of these cases.
