Bummer. Met him once at the restaurant and he was so vibrant and welcoming. Bad loss for our city. Prayers to his family.

How sad. I'm thinking he was in his mid 50's. I haven't found anything about cause of death.

So sad. About 8 years ago I was in NYC with friends from BR eating at Gramercy Tavern when Ruffin and his chef walked in. He recognized friends I was with and we all talked for a while. He later sent a bottle of wine over to our table.

Ruffino’s is where my kids love to celebrate birthdays if we happen to be in town, mostly because of the cotton candy. I brought up that story to him one of the last times I was there and we had a nice chat once again. What a nice guy

He was 53. My age. Wow!

RIP Ruffin. Sad day for his family obviously and the community as well.

Didn’t he come to the board once when someone was talking bad about his restaurant?

I didn’t know him and have never eaten at his restaurant, but you could tell that man had a passion for the business he built. He laid it all out there. RIP
