How does primary system work for PS4 and PS5 owners?

could you theoretically have both set as the primary console for your virtual library? not sure what i'm gonna do with my ps4 pro after i manage to snag a 5

It uses the same library based on user name. I wasn’t asked about primary anything if I remember correctly.
You can sync the systems also
I have an external hard drive and play my games flawlessly so far.

Primary system only applies to same-gen like if you have two PS4s; only 1 can be your primary.

So I could effectively give someone my entire digital library by giving them my ps4 and having it set as primary, while also having my entire digital library available on ps5. I actually had it set up that way before but when I lost internet due to hurricane I reactivated my ps4 as the primary one
