If you have a local bow shop, drove there and put as many in your hands as possible. See which one feels right because everyone is different. Technology these days is pretty level across the board so I would worry about feel more. Also, if you find one you like and aren’t in a rush, you can get some good deals after January.

Check used on Craigslist or wherever. A lot of bow hunters are gear hounds and always upgrading, and you can probably find one already set up with sights, etc. That's how I dipped my toe in the water and it was a lot cheaper. I really just wanted to learn how to shoot one; I think I hunted with it once.

X2 on the find a local shop with someone who is willing to spend some time with you.

Unfortunately this time of year they’re probably rushing around to get equipment back in hunter’s hands and pushing to get folks in and out.

Any of the name brand stuff will be awesome, don’t be afraid to look at last year’s models it can save a decent amount.

This is the answer, I went to a local shop told them I was going Archery elk hunting and knew nothing. I tried several. What is amazing is how accurate modern compound bows are, even for beginner. I think I spent $1100 for everything I needed to hunt with. They are not cheaper than guns..
