I was watching Trev’s interview the day before Sage’s commitment. The interviewer made a comment about how shocked Sage was because he said he is just a regular guy from small town Lafayette and nfl players were texting him. I thought that was illegal? A few months ago Julio Jones was calling Brian Thomas Jr about going to Alabama. I would not be surprised if Landon Collins was one of them being a former top safety from Louisiana who left to Bama. I never hear about former LSU players in the nfl calling or texting recruits.

Because as former players they fall into the category of people for whom it would be illegal (per NCAA rules) to contact a prospective student athlete. Similar to boosters.

Same reason Joe McKnight crawfished the next day after saying Reggie Bush was on the phone with him while Pete Carroll was at his house visiting him before he committed. Former players are looked at like boosters in the eyes of the NCAA

Well, without watching the video... Who was contacting Ryan? Was it former LSU players or Bama

I thought it was only an NCAA violation if it happened on campus.

Former players accidentally ending up with recruits numbers and talking about life isn't against the rules.

It doesn't matter because that's nothing compared to what goes on in recruiting. A recruit isn't going to sign just because an NFL player texted him, but he might if he's getting funneled money or receiving free tickets to NFL games from a particular player.

One of our best WRs OBJ was handing out cash after a game it can’t be more hands on than that.

They probably skirted the issue by someone handing Ryan numbers to these guys and having him initiate the contact first.
