Dear Diary,

Bought a car from carvana in July 2017. Carfax clean, no accidents, no damage (i still have this original report).
Today, when i take it to the consignment dealer, he pulls it up and there is now damage reported from November 2015, for those of you doing the math, nearly 2 full years before i purchased it.

How the F does it take damage more than 2 years to report?
When you couple this with carvana's whole 'we dont sell wrecked vehicles and we 150 point inspect them.....' do you believe carvana has any responsibility?

You mention still having the original report. Did you match it up with the new report? Second, I would call Carfax and discuss with them, and see what they say. Maybe it’s an error? If all of the above fail, then I would go to Carvana and I feel they would play a role in this and be somewhat responsible. I doubt that will go anywhere though.

Yeah - They fix the damage to new cars in house and don't report it to carfax

Take carfax reports with a grain of salt. They had a fabricated wreck on a vehicle that I owned.

Found out this afternoon that the report was added in March 2018...8 months after I purchased the car, 27 months post actual damage.

Gotcha. Was asking because different states have different laws obviously. If you were in California, you'd be in the driver's seat. It's a very consumer friendly state.

Carfax sucks. My last car i bought brand new, was the only owner had it for 10 years. Went to sell it and Carfax had an alert on my vehicle stating I rolled back the odometer. I'm thinking the whole company is a big clusterfrick and the biggest scam going

My son bought his first car from an owner.

I bought the single carfax and they charged me $100 for 6. I did it on my desktop and two of my kids saw it happen. I told them, "this is what a scam company does". They eventually corrected the error, but at that point I should have refused the entire service. I dont want to do business with a company like that.

I would imagine this happened because a repair shop you went to made a typo when they entered your mileage on the repair order.
