I usually don't eat breakfast or lunch. Dinner is a family thing though. Intermittent fasting can do wonders for your body. I usually try to hit 18 hours for max benefit. It's not as hard as people think. Eat dinner at 6P, then lunch at noon the next day. Just don't overdo lunch or dinner.

That’s because poor people can’t afford nutritious food. The science has been out on that for years.

They can't afford to spend $20 on a week's worth of decent food but they can afford to spend $20 on a 10,000 calorie bucket of chicken for one meal?

Yes, old age is the top category.

If you are younger, the top risk is weight.

Not much you can do about being 85. None of us want to have bad outcomes at 40-60 etc. Working on nutrition and physical activity is the top thing you can do to help yourself right now (yes, you can say that about most diseases but maybe people will focus more on it to deal with an acute disease rather than having the discipline to ward off heart disease in 30 years).

You must have carbs to live.
Actually you don’t. You can get plenty of energy from fat.

That said, I still eat potatoes in small portions from time to time, although I prefer sweet potatoes (which are only marginally less bad for you).

I read in another post that you limit yourself to two meals a day, and nothing before bedtime. That’s probably why you’re 148 lbs at 5’8”, which makes you skinnier than me (I’m just under 5’7” and currently 147, but I’m also just getting back into shape post-surgery, so there’s that).

Exactly. It's not a money thing, it's a processed food thing because that's easier than cooking and people are lazy. Given our obesity rates I would think most of America regardless of income eats too much pre-packaged food.

This is what you all don’t get, liberal doesn’t equal a lack of pragmatic sense. You see “lib” and you immediately think every single person associated with it Is AOC or Sanders.

A lot of liberals are outraged by this “fat shaming.”

At the very least, the video is making me eat a chicken salad tonight.

BS! Junk food by the pound is a lot more expensive than fruit and vegetables by the pound. Do the math!

Why? Like I don't care about the actual thread, I just really want to know how you came to this conclusion?

I don't know why you guys are giving potatoes such a bad rap.
Guess it's whole paleo thing.

Yes, somewhat high in carbs but low in calories and high in nutrition.Just don't gunk em up with sour cream or loads of butter

True, but the vast majority of the nutrients are in the skin, which most people throw away. The “meat” of the potato is mostly starch and water.

I’d just as soon have an extra helping of broccoli or green beans, which provide far more nutrition per calorie than spuds. To each his own.

Tax sugar, make it more expensive. That will reduce consumption.

Government needs to kickstart an anti added sugar, processed food, junk campaign like they did with tobacco. Make TV dinners, fast food, and sodas seen in the same light as cigarettes.

Media needs to get on board and stop this body positive fat people in bikinis shite they’re doing

No sodas, kool aid, sugar, or junk food in general bought with food stamps. Double the buying power of each EBT dollar if it’s being spent on vegetables and fruit. Exclude potatoes

We need more and longer recess in schools and it needs to be going outside playing not sitting inside on the bleachers staring at their phones. And PE needs to be brought back. If school years need to be extended so that there is enough time to teach the other subjects too tough shite do it.

One thing I've noticed is that people generally eat by the clock. This was necessary when I worked and had a specific lunch break. But when people retire they tend to stay with that clock. Instead they should ask 'Am I really hungry right now?'. If the answer is 'no' then why eat just because it's meal time?

The way to make this work is to keep leftovers in the fridge so you are not tied to when the food is cooked. It's especially important for the wife since she works night shift and has unpredictable times to eat. Variety is key. She must have 3 choices when she opens the fridge or I'm in trouble.

I get that but potatoes still provide a very lower calorie fiber while quenching your hunger and this is in the "meat" along with potassium. I always eat the skin I get others don't. Sweet potatoes along with red potatoes are still very nutritious.A good
article about how they've been "mislabeled" over the years.
