Was about to start a similar thread, so I'll just piggy back off of yours.

We're getting our deck rebuilt in a few weeks, and are in the final planning stages as far as wiring for lights/fans/TV goes. Contractor is coming out either tomorrow or early next week to give us final numbers. The last thread I searched for, most people said to upgrade your inside TV and put the old one outside, which we may do at first. I have a couple of old Samsung 46 inchers, and one will likely get put out there at first. Just bought a new 50 inch for my living room, and would ideally like to put a larger one and a soundbar outside, probably mounted to the existing brick wall or on the new siding.

What size would you go with for a 12'x20' space? Seating will be around 12-15 feet away from the set at the most, and we may get a couple of chairs we can move around to sit closer if we need to. I was thinking 55-60 inch screen. This is the one we put in our living room:

Just go with a cheap normal tv.

As long as it doesn't get any direct water contact it will be fine. I've had mine out there for 2 years. FIL for 5+.

My 50 inch Samsung was tree fiddy at Best Buy. But it is a 4K smart tv. I love it. I’ll probably end up with the 55 or 58 inch 7 series like it for outside. The wife will balk at the size at first until I have a 46 out there and she is far away from it.

I've had a 42 inch vizio outside for 3 years. Still no problem. Outdoor tvs cost way too much. May as well get a regular TV for a fraction of the cost and simply replace it if it goes out.

Don’t spend money on an outdoor tv. If it’s gonna be covered by the cheapest tv with the features you want. I bought a 50” Westinghouse tv. It has been under my covered patio for six years now and works as good as it did the day I put it up

This is the right answer. An outdoor TV is expensive AF. get a cheapie and you can go through 10 of them before they equal the cost of an outdoor one. Get a cover, enjoy it while it lasts, replace.

I’ve been having a Vizio on my patio for 7 years (50”). I thought if it lasted 3 years, I got my money out of it. It doesn’t get wet, but a box of at be better as mine does get dusty. Can’t see spending 6x as much unless the tv would be poolside or something.

I've had an old cheapo Vizio mounted above my outdoor kitchen going on 4 years now with no problems. I have a cover I keep on it until I get ready to use it.
