Afternoon all,

I am currently on the search for a photographer in the Jackson Hole / Grand Teton area. After looking at professional photographers and refusing to pay $2500 for engagement photos, I am on the search for a hobbyist/amateur photographer in the area. I know this may be a long shot, but any advice is welcome.

TIA

Check with the Thomas Mangleson gallery in Jackson. He is a world renowned wildlife photographer but I bet he could give you a name or two of some local photographers that would work with you.
Good luck...let me know how you do.

Talk to this guy

@zacheisenhauer

Don’t know if he would be interested or what he would charge. He fits your description though.

Search Instagram using #jacksonhole or #wyoming. Scroll through the posts until you find someone with the talent you like. Click on their page and see where they are from. DM and message them. Don't lowball them, but you can find a really good amateur photographer to do a shoot for like $250. I run a lifestyle golf brand and we do shoots at different venues all the time. This is how I find all photographers.

We used Janae Huckins out of Alpine for our engagement photos and i want to say it was around $1k and she did a solid job.

My family and I are going on vacation next May in the Tetons. We were thinking about having photos done while out there. This is exactly what we are looking for- looks like she charges around $300 for an hour long family session. Thanks

Someone like this guy. Ask him if he’d be comfortable with it. He’s definitely skilled, just probably not used to engagement shots, but he could do it.

I guessed who it was before clicking the link. This guy is super talented! He seems to shoot anything and everything, really well. He runs with a lot of local skiers, and shot and produced a film with them last year.

Very talented. Even if he's too expensive or doesn't want to, he'll be connected to the local guys and can push OP in the right direction. Quality photography has become very commoditized and someone is always willing to make a quick hundred or two.

Where are you staying? You could also check some of the vacation rental companies as they will have some leads.

Jackson hole is one of the most expensive places in the country. You need to consider how much your fiance cares about these and how long and how good you want them. I alwas scoff at photography prices but there's a reason why they are expensive.

I'm not saying spend $2500, but if you are looking for a remote location or multiple locations or something like that, you could be talking about a lot of commute time.

ETA: I found multiple with a google search in the $350 (pun intended) range for 60 min sessions. I don't have a rec so I don't think linking them would be appropriate.

If I ever stumble into zillions of dollars, I'm going spend all of it at his gallery in Park City. One of the coolest places I've been

His pictures of grizzlies are some of the most stunning photographs I’ve ever seen. Can easily drop 5 figs on a piece of photography in that joint

Supposedly a really nice, grounded guy from all accounts. He takes spectacular photographs
