In a certain strange fantasy season ahead, I added two IR spots to our league’s team rosters. I am not optimistic the season will even begin much less play without interruption.

I think you just have to draft like NFL teams (sometimes) do and at least consider the character of the player. If I'm going to draft somebody like Zeke, I know the guy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and will probably do everything he possibly can to get infected again, in which case he's probably done.

Assuming you actually can get it twice (my 30 seconds of Googling didn't give me a clear answer), I'm going to have to downgrade him for that. Although in his case it's like one spot.

If a guy gets COVID in the middle of the season he's probably done anyway so you don't need IR spots.

How do the IR spots work in Yahoo?

Does the player's official designation (e.g., out, IR-R, etc.) determine who is allowed to be placed in an IR slot?

That's a lot.

When we started our league, we had two IR spots. Players eligible if they were designated out on the injury report. If a player is out for a non-covid reason for say only one week, then you're allowing the owner to stash him and pick up another player instead of using a reserve already on the owner's team.

What we found was that IR led to teams having too many players and that shrinking the free agent pool for other teams. We axed the IR spots after two years. Not sure how we'll handle this year. It's still being discussed.
