We have a trip booked for July 17-25. I know they just made masks mandatory on the 18th inside places with a roof. Does anyone know how strict they’re enforcing this? I see it’s a possible $500 fine.

Just wear the gd mask. It’s not that difficult.

It’s a vacation. My entire family wearing a mask for a week on vacation is ridiculous. It says quote “a bandanna or handkerchief are fine, it doesn’t have to be something fancy.” So what’s the point then?

Then dont guy. Or ruin your vacation because you have to cover you mouth and nose.

They aren’t saying you have to wear one 24/7. When you walk into a restaurant/business, wear a mask. If you’ll be within 6 ft of another human that is not a part of your family, wear a mask. This is such a simple concept. You don’t have to wear it in the car, you don’t have to wear it in your hotel room/AirBnB, you don’t have to wear it when you’re sitting down to eat, you don’t have to wear it when out in nature or wherever doing an activity.

If you want something as simple as wearing a mask to ruin your vacation, then stay home.

we just got back from Miami/key west. family of 5 with three kids. it wasn't a big deal. a few times people asked us to put a mask on but most people aren't idiots about it. our masks were by far the most covid prone item of clothing we had on by the end of the week, and i can guarantee they didnt help, but if it makes people feel better about themselves then whatever. just put it on

We are going to key west in August. Were most places open, and was a mask required to walk down the street, or just inside bars and restaurants ? I would rather not wear a mask, but will do so without complaining, just to keep the peace. Curious what the vibe/attitude is down there. It's our favorite place to go, but if most places are closed and masks are required everywhere - even walking down the street - we might reschedule.

Key west was 100 times better than miami. no mask to walk around. most shops/ restauarants required masks but you could tell the employees were sick of it and didn't really enforce. the vibe was cool otherwise. i would go again if i had the chance right now.

Makes no sense for restaurant. So you walk in with mask but take it off and put it down on your table to eat so now the mask and table are technically contaminated

Or put it in your pocket

I’ve been out to eat a few times in New Orleans already. Wearing a mask is such a non-issue. It’s baffling to me that adults are making such a fuss about this.

For customer service type of businesses such as retail and restaurants, the rule in Texas to my understanding is you have to have a mask on to walk in and walk out. Once you are inside, there's no government enforcement. You can't force someone to wear a mask eating for example.
