I love the story of how right after they recorded it, Henley said something like "there's your hit song, kid."
Their genius is really in deciding who should do what song. Glad they left a few for Schmit and Meisner.

Read that was the last straw with Meisner as far as Frey and Henley were concerned. He refused to play "Take It To The Limit" in concert because he was sick of it and couldn't hit the high notes

There are only a very small handful of Eagles songs I care for and that's one of them. I've always liked it. I thought it was a chick singing it when I first heard it.

My dad was shocked when he found out the Bee Gees where white men. He thought it was black women.

I thought it was a chick singing it my whole fricking life until I saw him sing it live about 5 years ago.

Oh , he also has been married twice and has 4 kids (3 with first and 1 with current wife). So he’s either not gay or faking it really well.

Any of them could have led vocals 90% of the time and they’d still be filthy rich.

The fact that he took his moment at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction to publicly thank Randy Meisner (who Schmit replaced both in Poco and The Eagles) for his career shows how awesome a guy he is.

He's a good guy and extremely talented. He's done session work and vocals for everyone from Toto to Jimmy Buffet to Twisted Sister.

That’s a great song. Reminds me of a hazy Sunday morning after a bender recounting the night before.

A great R&B Memphis song. Lots of air in the song. The solo lick is great, which was composed by Frey, but played live by Don Felder.

I like on the Eagles documentary TBS, is like " I'm a normal guy, I just did the dishes before ya'll (the camera crew) showed up."

He's a hustler. Played bass for Jimmy Buffett and also the creator of the term Parrot Heads. Not a lot of people know that.

I love some of the Meisner tunes: Try and Love Again, Too Many Hands (love the dueling lead solos at the end), Tryin'

People forget that when The Eagles were still a country-rock outfit as a 4-piece, Frey was the guy who played the simple rock leads and Leadon played the more complex bluegrass inspired stuff.

That is Frey on the record (The Long Run) for I Can't Tell You Why. Frey would joke that his solos were slow like that, because that was as fast as he could play.

Felder, for his part, had to play most of the Frey solos live once he joined the band, and this was his favorite of those.

Every Eagle sang lead vocals on at least 1 hit record, except, I think, Bernie Leadon (who, like Felder was an accomplished harmony/background singer, but had less success as a lead vocalist).

All but Leadon or Felder had at least 1 legitimate hit as lead vocalist for the Eagles. That's pretty impressive, no matter how you slice it.

Band was as insanely talented a popular music group ever assembled from scratch in America - maybe anywhere.
