Long time, first time. Has anyone played The Links in Sandestin in the past week? They aerated May 4-11. Heading to Destin this weekend and wondering if the greens are close to fully recovered.

The Links - Sandestin

I played last year. It would be toward the end of my list of recommended places to play.

Any reason you’re picking this one?

Played Indian Bayou the last few times I've been and wanted a change of scenery. Looks like it has some pretty holes along the Bay.

Play the Raven at Sandestin instead. Tough but beautiful course.

Indian Bayou is one of my favorite courses.

Considered Raven. Have some guys in our group that only play a couple times per year and didn't want to spend over $100 on a round.

Indian Bayou is great. Always have a good time playing there and it's about a mile from the condo, so that's where we usually play.

Looks like The Links is usually about the same green fee as Indian Bayou but it's just lowered right now while the greens recover.

If you can make a 30 minute drive it’s worth the trip to play Windswept Dunes near Freeport. Last year I played Indian Bayou, Kelly Plantation and Windswept Dunes.

Windswept Dunes had a good layout and was easily the best value. It does not have the country club frills of the other two, but it would be my first choice if you weigh all the factors (layout, condition, costs, etc...)

I love Indian bayou

Look at Baytowne or Raven instead of Links. Links is a nice little course with a couple of cool holes, but I would choose a bunch of other course over it.

Check golf now!

As of today they are not letting anyone from Louisiana into Florida unless you self quarantine!

I played the links a few years ago. Not impressed at all.

My buddies all bitch about the length of this course, but we all suck at golf. It is 7752 from the tips, which does seem long to a golf noob

This is your answer. They have tees for it to play anywhere from 5000-7700 yards. Those greens can be rough if they don't play much golf though. Probably a lot of 3 and 4 putting...

I read that they are in a “battle” with Doral for the longest course in the state. One will add a new tee or two to overtake the other ... then the other will respond in kind. Playing from the tips would be like kicking yourself in the nuts. I would recommend the third set of tees.

The guys I'm going with wanted to stick with The Links, just for cost. I'll report back. I'm going back in a few weeks with a different group. I'll try to get them on Regatta Bay, Raven or Windswept Dunes.

So we played The Links on Sunday. It was in decent shape. There were still some visible holes from aeration but it didn't have much effect on any of our games. Plenty of water on just about every hole, so we lost a fair share of balls.

We did enjoy the holes along the bay. Beautiful scenery. Played in under 4 hours and only had to wait to tee off 1 time, which was hole 10.

For the aeration discounted price, it was well worth it. For regular price, I'd rather play Indian Bayou, which is a comparable green fee.

Heading back next week. Haven't decided where we are playing but I'll start another review thread after we play.
