My Neuro just said the pain I’m having could be from a trapped nerve under my Scapula

It’s a bitch and the pain radiates to under my arm.

I lift and run daily and always am on a computer

What did you guys do to alleviate the pain?

Which side? Related to extended periods of computer mouse usage and/or form?

I have a similar issue on my right side after I was rear ended a third time. I did have some relief from dry needling in the upper thoracic area.

When it gets really bad I take a muscle relaxer and/or have my wife fish around with her elbow/forearm until she hits a sweet spot and holds it for a minute. Hurts like hell but the temporary relief afterwards is worth it.

Left side. I’ve always slouched and had bad posture

Just wondering if I should try to build up my back to help take the pressure off or will that piss it off more?

Sometimes it helps me to just grab a 100lb weight and let my arm completely relax and it feels like the muscles on the right side of my upper back are going to rip apart, but it’s a good hurt.

I do a lot of neck stretches which I find helps some as well.

This may not be your issue but there have been more and more cases of what they call “mouse shoulder” popping up. Obviously due to increased computer usage. I definitely have pain/strain under my right shoulder blade that only get better if I step away from my PC for a couple of days.

I have similar issues on my right side, and up to the top of my neck/base of my skull. My wife gets it on her left side. I think a therapist called it a Scapular release. Lie face down, and take your arm on whichever side is tight and hold it behind your back. Put the back of your hand on the small of your back. Have someone grab your wrist and slowly push it up your back, as high as is comfortable, and hold it with one arm. This will pop the scapula up some. Then with their other hand, scoop their fingers down underneath the bone, and very slowly apply pressure, pulling it out to the side of your body. Hold it for 30 seconds or so, and massage the area underneath once you are done, still holding the wrist. Do this 3-4 times and you should get some relief. I do it to my wife about once a week or so when hers gets tight.

Any stretches or exercises to help feel some relief? I have had a dull pain under my scapula for years.
