What system is best to play old FF titles?

Primarily FFVII and IX.
I have a PS4, but I plan on getting a Switch when I can get my hands on one. Is there any real difference? Are they all ports? Are some better than others?

PS4 unless you like the portability factor. FFVII is a port of the PC version. IX is a port of the mobile version, but the UI on the console release was re-designed to appear more like the original and less like the touchscreen UI for phones.

Ok cool. I actually got both games on PS4 awhile back for like $10 total so that makes the decision a bit easier.
For some reason I thought I had read that the PS4 ports were not good, but if they are fine that’s how I’ll do it.

The Switch port for 9 isn't good. Long loading times and crashes. I don't know if those issues have been patched.

PC with mods for both 7 and 9
They both have great mods.

Xbone even has a bundle on ff10 and x-2 deal. I’ve been running through them myself. Just beat the 12 remaster. All I have left is 13-2,13-3, and 15

In my opinion, the answer is unquestionably the Switch. Especially if you are married. The portability is such a huge factor for me.

Moguri Mod is the way to go if you don't mind playing on PC
It's pretty amazing the work that has been done to restore the backgrounds. This is the way 9 should be played in this day. The newer ports (PS4,switch, Xbox) is more mushed than even the original PS.
