At the end of the month. I know it wasn't fit for goats but still sad to see it go.

Shame - place is just a bit too remotely located and had too many drainage issues with it being in such a low-lying area.

My cousins home course. Fun layout that was never in great shape. Always sad to hear of a course closing.

Golf course was purchased yesterday, it will be reopened under new ownership. No details yet, but that's what I heard.

Rumor this morning is it's the guy who owns Ziegler Tree Service and the guy who owns Wagner Landscaping. Between them they have 50 employees and all the necessary equipment to maintain the course. I would assume aside from a few specialty pieces like greens mowers, etc. Hopefully they'll put some money into it and make it more attractive/sustainable. But not raise the price too much. I know a few young guys who are just getting started in life and don't have a lot of cash that were pretty bummed when they closed.

They sold all of the specialty equipment they had and that shite ain’t cheap.

It’s going to be tough for them to make it. With how far it is you have to have a cheap price point. Not a good enough plot of land to put a huge investment into.

I do hope they make it though, I grew up out there.

I heard it was a Mississippi guy who is known for flipping courses. Supposed to be a big project on the way. Russ Bloom.

Owns The Oaks in MS...hmm, I like the Oaks, always in decent shape. Hopefully the same model works for ASGC.

Russ does a fantastic job at The Oaks. Would be cool to see Abita come back to life.

Course purchase FINALLY went through. All previous news/rumors were either wrong or the sale fell through. Deal was finalized a few days ago and they are going to open up under new ownership.
