Utah looks like it is fairly open. I'm thinking about a trip to Utah. A few days in Moab(Arches/Canyonlands/Colorado River). Then a few in Deer Valley/Park City area.

I'd probably fly into Grand Junction and out of SLC.

Anyone ever do anything similar? Is Monument Valley doable from Moab?

Moab is awesome. Salt lake is open they’re just spreading people out at restaurants now but I’ve had access to everything here. I would double check food/lodging in Moab. They’re not that big so they’re likely not freaking out like other tourist places.

Monument valley is definitely doable bc it’s <2hours away. Assuming it’s not a pass through trip and you’re trying to do it in a day. I’d definitely check with places in that area bc Colorado is more liberal than Utah.

I'll probably have the second half of a travel day and two full days in Moab. Not sure if I need to dedicate a full day for each Arches and Canyonlands. I may not have time for Monument Valley.

Currently Moab restaurants sound like a mixed bag. Some only doing take out. Some allow patio dining. Some allow limited table service. I figure by June it will be reasonably normal.

There is a app for your phone, the Gypsy App that works for both CanyonLands and Arches. It downloads to your phone and as you drive the parks it is a tour guide. Gives you options on things to visit, things not to miss, etc

You'll definitely want a full day for arches. I still need to hit canyonlands, so can't help you there.

Monument valley is most definitely worth the trip, but you might want to check on it since it's tribal lands, I know the Navajo Rez have gotten drilled by covid from what I've heard. It's a great visit though.

I’m driving to salt lake and will be there May 22-25 to summit a mountain or two and then driving down to Escalante for desert backcountry hiking May 25-29. I got the last room in both Utah hotel bookings.

There’s still a lot of snow. Icy not powder but it’ll still be beautiful. I took the family hiking last weekend.

You need a full day at least at Arches. Island in the Sky part of Canyonlands needs a full day also with a detour to Dead Horse State Park. Needles and Maze parts of Canyonlands need multi day treks.

Moab is a small town. If they get a few covid cases I'd expect them to shut down again.

Arches is a full day imo, ending after sunset at Delicate arch.

Canyonlands imo can be a half day if you don't go off road or do much hiking.
