News Websites
In doing some citation sourcing for a research project, I noticed my laptop sounded like it was about to sprout wings and take off. Upon investigation, I identified the culprits: The Advocate and NOLA.com's websites. In what obscene world does one single web page need 2GB of memory. Also, check out the sheer number of trackers on The Adovcate's website. No wonder they're going broke. Rant over.

re: News Websites
This is too common now. I'm not sure what marketing genius decided the proper remedy for declining ad revenue is to load the website up with so many trackers and ads that it either breaks the browser or becomes nearly unusable. Far too many sites are like this now.

re: News Websites
What? You don't like sites that autoplay videos and are streaming multiple banner ads (with video) on each page call?

I haven't looked over the Advocate in years but I can remember we had to block them for a while around 10 years ago because the service they were farming their Obits to had such utter shite for security controls that our users were routinely getting malware through the banner ads that other company was running.

I can't imagine much has changed for the better.
