And how to catch? These suckers were probably 20 lb. minimum.
This is in a small BR pond that we’ve never seen activity like this before. Link is a YouTube video that shows two of the fish. They were going crazy in the reeds almost looking like redfish when marsh fishing.
Some kind of carp?

grass carp would be my guess.
They are lots of fun on a fly rod.
You can use a little nymph pattern to catch them.

I think it's grass carp getting ready to spawn. I've seen them do that before.

Grass carp is my bet as well. My granddad was a farmer and kept catfish in his irrigation ponds as a hobby. He always kept a few grass carp in his ponds, and they'd cause a commotion just like that certain times of the year. When I was a kid, I accidentally hooked one of those suckers. That was a hell of a fight for an 8 year old.

I could see that they were definitely making some pretty good contact with each other.
Looking at the buffalo fish, there is an extension on the dorsal fin. Next time there is commotion I’ll see if I can pick that up.

Grass Carp.
Are these native to Louisiana? The reason I ask is that I walk my dogs near the LSU lakes at 5:00am and it's too dark to see but I hear alot of splashing in the lake similar to this. Carp?
