Obviously guys like Cabrera and Henry will be drafted in those top rounds.

Fontenot has to be a candidate to return, no?

What signees could we possibly see make it to campus?

quote:

In the deal, MLB has the right to shorten the 2020 draft to five rounds, sources tell ESPN. Additionally, it can delay the start of the international signing period to as late as January 2021.

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of D1 players taken in this years draft

I think it can go as short as 5 rounds, but the length hasn’t been determined yet. I don’t think it’s more than 10 though.

And apparently there will still be NDFAs, but those bonuses will capped at a low amount, meaning that someone would really have to want to leave college to sign UDFA.

Pushing the draft back to July does not impact anyone on LSUs roster. The oldest non draft eligible player is Marceaux, and the draft would have to move back to like August 27th to include him. If they kept the 45 day rule as is and didn’t freeze it for the 6/14 date.

I think that some junior colleges are about to be stacked with the top high school prospects.

There has already been chatter that the top tier guys that don’t sign will go d1 instead of juco. It’s only been mentioned because everyone was thinking they’d go juco.

Which recruits are more hopeful to make it to campus with this draft?

Tell me we’re in on some Juco bats

Juniors are getting screwed by this, because they don't get an extra year like the seniors will, according to reports.

They lose all of their leverage.

Juco catcher and 3rd baseman, but I don’t know the interest level on the catcher given this new information. Because this means we have a more real chance with Romo getting to campus. We are on at least one JC pitcher (beyond the one committed), a transfer pitcher, and a hs pitcher that was previously committed to Tulane and may play basketball in college (but not at LSU).

March 30th should bring more clarity on the roster, scholarship stuff.

We are at like 53 players, 55 if you include beck and George.

Assuming the basketball player is the guy from Pitkin or Pickering, can’t remember which it is

why would the MLB choose to shorten the draft to 5 rounds if given the option? If one or two guys don't sign their draft could be a complete waste.

Less revenue from this season, less time to scout.

It almost assures that everyone who does get selected will sign.

He’s from San Antonio. I wasn’t talking about current commits.
