yall are speaking a foreign language to me. so the sprayer i posted above doesn't have a fan tip? is it ok to use? seemed to do fine with the cocktail.

Don’t sweat it, if what you have is working for you, as you said it is, then it’s OK. Fan tips put out a spray pattern that literally looks like a woman’s hand fan as it exits the nozzle, you get broad wide coverage, which is good for entire yard coverage. Cone tip - spray pattern like an inverted snowball paper cup - good for spot spraying, or stream spraying, don’t get the consistent broad area coverage as uniformly for whole yard coverage as a fan tip.

Pic shows what a fan tip looks like. Most homeowners sprayers come with an adjustable cone tip spray head - your sprayer has this. If I’m spraying the entire lawn I use a fan tip, if spot spraying weeds or spraying along a house foundation I switch to the cone tip.

I use a Solo brand sprayers. More expensive than box store sprayers, but you can buy replacement parts if they break, come with a few different tips, etc. After having to throw away several cheap sprayers from the box stores when they broke - no replacement parts available - I finally decided to pay a little more for a better quality product. But others seem to have better luck with the HD or Lowe’s sprayers than I’ve had. A 2 gal Solo hand sprayer runs about $40, give or take 5 bucks.

I filtered it down for you 4 gallon backpack with a fan tip. I use either Chapin or Solo. I'm sure those prices are what you were looking to spend.

This right here is tricky make sure you educated yourself before you start spraying powerful herbicides like MSM turf. It's a really small amount in a pump sprayer. You need to make sure you are putting down 1 gallon of water every 1k sq ft.

The lawn forum is really the place to go to learn this stuff
