Gayle Benson sets up community assistance fund for NOLA.

quote:

Gayle Benson has personally donated $1 million to create the Gayle Benson Community Assistance Fund in response to the Coronavirus situation affecting so many lives in our community.

Arena Assistance Fund:

Separately from the $1 million contribution to start the Gayle Benson Community Assistance Fund, Benson will establish an Arena Assistance Fund for those who are impacted by the NBA postponement of games. Noting that the employees at the arena are not all Pelican employees, the policy and implementation of the fund will be in coordination with the Louisiana Stadium Exposition District (LSED) and ASM New Orleans. Furthermore, all wages for Pelican’s employees who work game days only will be guaranteed for the remaining postponed games.

Everyone was shitting on her for not doing it the day it happened. Outrage culture loses again.

ETA: Good for Gayle. Really glad she’s helping out and I hope it makes a difference for a lot of people who will struggle the next few months.

This is an example of what you shouldn't do:

Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta "temporarily" eliminates paid time off for his hotel employees

No, it's more of it's their money, they are entitled to do with it what they please..

Everytime some little thing happens, people get this entitled attitude that billionaires should just start handing over money because they have it..

Tilman has always been a giving person just like most billionaires are, and most of them will always do the right things, but this sense of "You have more than me so give me" is why people will stop giving

This is not a case of handing out his money though, this is a case of telling your employees they can't take their vacation time that they have EARNED..

Completely different bud
