Unreal. Someone took the time to rank one thousand songs.

I greatly appreciate your effort, but many mistakes, in just the hour I've listened #418 is the wrong song and 395 is Bob Dylan.

9 Van Halen - Eruption/You Really Got Me - I quickly looked through this and this one sticks out to me as the most random.

Random because they shouldn’t have included “You Really Got Me” - they should have just stuck with Eruption. I guess they felt obligated to include YRGM because Eruption is an instrumental. But it’s an instrumental that launched a new generation of guitarists/technique.

Top 1000 with Loverboy and Night Ranger, but no Maiden or Metallica?

List is shite.

If you actually listen to the broadcast though, they actually play Panama when they mean to play Eruption/You Really Got Me.

Trust me on this one. I've listened twice already.

Has anyone else caught this?

See my post as well. They're listing Panama at number 7 when it should be Eruption/You Really Got Me

I realize that this list is totally subjective but how the heck does any rock and roll critic out Sister Golden Hair right above Like a Rolling Stone. And as a long time Dylan fan, I have to wonder how Knockin on Heaven’s Door makes it to #5. When Rolling Stone came out a few years ago with a special magazine on Dylan’s Top 100 Songs, Knockin on Heaven’s Door was ranked 25th which is about where I would put it. In any event Dylan may have written close to 1000 songs that are better than Sister Golden Hair!

Thanks for posting this, I'm going to avoid the rest of the thread and all the "list is shite because song X is too low or song Y" or the guys wanted the entire top 10 to be at least 9 Led Zeppelin songs

The Beatles - A Day In The Life...that is my favorite song by them but FAR too high for this list. Come Together, Stawberry Fields, LSD, Here Comes the Sun and so many more are far more appreciated by the masses. I would be less surprised if November Rain held this spot than this.

I do not see a major problem with the rest of top 20. Dylan is a bit too high...maybe even "Pride" by U2.

These 3 all need to be much higher.

"More than a feeling" #11? Good lord. That song is unlistenable.

You have number 9 wrong. They played Panama. You really Got Me was played a good bit earlier in the ranks.

Hi all,

I am so glad others are searching for a documented list of this Top 1000 Countdown...we all seem to stumble upon this particular list that TurkeyBaconLeg was so kind to post for us. (Doesn't look like the folks at Sirius are interested in doing that for us who are obsessed with stuff like this!)

For those pointing out that there are differences or mistakes in that list - the original list (at the beginning of this thread) is from last year's countdown. Sirius has (for the better part of this list) kind of kept the same songs, but have made some changes (drops, additions, song swaps) along the way. (I've already commented on Sportschump's blog (above) about this as well.)

If there's anyone keeping track of this year's list, let me know...I have about 775 of this year's compiled, side by side last year's list to see the differences. I have a few 50 or so song gaps throughout my list that I'd like to fill in.

Sirius is now advertising that they are going to keep this Countdown going for a while longer on the app starting on Monday (02/17/20 - guess something else will be taking over Channel 30 then.) I'm hoping that version cuts out the every two song "Sirius ads" for their other channels, but I doubt it.

Happy Listening all!

For those who noticed that The Van Halen song was different, apparently they changed it this time when they redid the countdown.

I listened to it last year and this year, and they changed it from You Really Got Me with the intro song with Panama. Maybe they changed others as well but that one stuck out.

I don't think anyone could have put together this list without some criticism. I thought overall it was a good list.

1 Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven

This list is a complete joke, most overrated song of all-time and not even the best Zeppelin song Song Remains the Same movie immortalized it methinks

quote:

6 Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil

Damnnnn Sympathy getting a lot of love for the all-time classic rock songs, for a list like this I'd actually expect Satisfaction to occupy a top 10 spot and certainly supplant Sympathy, most influential rock song of its era
