LHSAA basketball: when did district tournaments become a thing?

Just saw Patterson is playing in a district tournament at St. James this weekend. How long has that been around? Does every district do this now?

Districts have to agree to do this. Some districts do it to open up dates to play better schools for power points during the season, rather than having to schedule around district games.
