It looks like I am going to have a layover in Lakewood March 12-15. If you were me and wanted to get some skiing in where would you go? I don't actually have to stay in Lakewood, but I don't want to venture too far away if there is a good ski resort close by. Any suggestions on lodges would be great as well. I have not really skied much since college, but since I live in an area with lots of back country skiing, it's time I get back into it.

I mean if you’re in Lakewood you’re close to all of them. Take your pick, Loveland, Winter Park, Keystone, Breck, A-Basin, El Dora.. All within 75 miles.

I personally tell people to go Loveland if they want to save a few bucks. It’s a great local mountain. I constantly take new skiers there and they love it.

Loveland is high altitude, real high so it aint for everyone but you can get there from Lakewood in 45 minutes during the week.

What kind of trip has a 3 day layover? And in Lakewood of all places.

There for a meeting and then have to be in San Diego the following week. Instead of flying back to Alaska only to turn around and head back to the lower 48 I figured I’d just stay there.

Keystone or Winter Park fit what you're looking for. You're probably less than 2 hours away in Lakewood depending on traffic.

Choose either Copper or Keystone. Both are a straight shot roughly 75 miles up the hill on I-70 . Easy trip and great skiing.

Be aware that the trip down the mountain on a Sunday is going to be a parking lot. My suggestion is to get the skiing on the first couple of days of your lay over and return on Friday or Saturday evening to avoid the traffic.

I fly to San Diego on Monday.. I’m going to book my travel on Monday or Tuesday so I might just make the drive Monday morning instead of Sunday.

Everything fell into place for my meeting so I went ahead and booked a room and purchased lift tickets for Loveland. Rented a RAV4 which I think will be all I need. Thanks for the recommendations.
