Why haven't I ever posted on this board before? 
So I bought my wife a Ring Doorbell(2) for Christmas and it's awesome. We have a couple of old laptop screens I salvaged that have been sitting in my basement collecting dust. So I was searching around this morning for a way to connect a raspberry pi or similar to them and create a permanent live view screen for the front door. When the project started approaching $100, and the realization that I'd have to flash the Android OS to the Pi to really make it work like I wanted, I thought there had to be an easier way. Sure enough, you can get a recycled 7" android tablet for less than the cost of a Pi.
I guess I'll have to use the screens for another DYI project.

You can't keep a continuous Ring feed. Cuts out around 10 minutes I believe.

Why not get one of the Echos with the screen? Then you can say something like Alexa, show me the doorbell.

Can't do it with the Ring doorbell. Found that out the hard way as well. Everything with Ring requires going through their cloud server and they aren't going to allow a persistent connection open all the time. I even tried to snoop the video packets but it appears the video stream is only active when it detects motion and it's encrypted (at least I couldn't tap into it).
You might look into an Amcrest Doorbell to do what you want. Same concept and features as a Ring and they have a cloud option but it's not required. It's also ONVIF compliant so you can tie it in to an NVR such as Blue Iris or use an ONVIF app on your android tablet to display the stream. You can sell your Ring to another sucker for $100 and buy the Amcrest and it will be a wash. My wife bought the Ring on a whim and now I'm working her to replace it in just this way. Then I'll be able to integrate it better into my home automation server and then I get to waste even more hours piddlling.
