Was talking about this yesterday with a lawyer buddy. I am sure Alx is more versed in it, but I believe that it is trending more towards being dismissed by the supreme court.

No, the newest release does not contain anything on it. Should be soon. I check daily.

The state does have a good argument. If the judgement ultimately goes in the landowners favor it could open the door for much litigation on other bodies of water in the future. However, there is somewhat a precedent for other “lakes” being privately owned in LA.
Yes, it will be another Pandora's box deal like the Walker Cottonwood Farms ruling of 2006 which made most of the coast off limits.
In Evangeline Parish there was a natural lake that used to be public with a state boat launch and the landowners surrounding the lake got it deemed private. The lake was even naturally connected to a bayou.
"On August 29th, 2006 US District Judge Robert G. James ruled that the public does not have a federal common law right to fish or hunt above the low water mark on a navigable body of water. He further ruled that it would be criminal trespass for the public to use the flooded side channels of the Mississippi River for the purposes of hunting and fishing. The judge stopped short however of ruling that recreational paddling is illegal."
Only in our corrupt state does shite like this go on.

Nothing corrupt has gone on re: this issue except maybe the original Crooks decision. Pun not intended.

I am more than a little disappointed the crooks haven't been persuaded to drop this case, I heard catahoula hunters were tough?

Crooks is bound to be getting some heat from the Jena baws, but I guess greed and $$$$ can make you impervious to it.

I am somewhat surprised the case hasn't settled. The plaintiffs must know that thinks look bad based upon the nature of the writ grant. Hell, if they could just get their costs back it would be a win.

So, is it going to stay public? Used to hunt out there some when we were in college since I’m from the area and have a buddy with a blind still out there I believe. Like other posters have mentioned. I’ve made some great memories out there and have seen some of the most beautiful sunsets. Just a cool place.

So, my in-laws that live on the Tennessee River are owed reparations by the government?
Hell
Yes...
Nope, your in laws don’t even own the banks near the river. Just be glad we don’t enforce our property rights very well.
