Figured I might could get some help/advice here. I’ve got a Rinnai RL75eN that I have recently started having some issues with.

It seems that only my shower in my master bath doesn’t get hot water. When I turn it on, the light on the controller doesn’t come on and I get no hot water. I’ve figured out that having the hot water tap on the sink makes it come on and I usually run it with my shower to get hot water. I’m guessing/hoping that my shower doesn’t have a high enough flow rate to make the heater kick on? Any have any experience with this?

Update: Removed the little blue flow restrictor from the shower head and man, the pressure I never knew I had. Fixed my problem. Thanks guys!

I think mine did the same at my old house. It is probably flow rate. You do need to clean those tankless heaters. There is a flush you can do to remove scale. Where are you located?

Does your shower faucet have only one handle or 2 knobs?

Mine has the one handle and if mine gets to where no hot water is coming to the shower, then I can change out the cartridge in the faucet and I get hot water again. Something about the faucet cartridge getting stopped up.

I have the tankless hot water heater also.

Does your shower head have one of those flow-rate restrictors in it? I had to remove one at my mom's old house to get the flow rate right for that system. It was an optional piece (for eco-friendly homes).

was my first thought. OP, Did this just start happening or has it always done this since the instillation?

I’ve been in the house since April. Only recall this happening in the last 2-3 months. Single knob shower. Located in NWLA.

Going to check when I get home and see about the flow restrictor. I took the shower head off a while back to make sure the screen wasn’t clogged up but didn’t see any issues.

Be careful...might feel like it'll take off your skin. I know the first time I felt it....I was like WOW.

If it wasn't doing it before, and fixing the flow rate fixed it....

If you have had it over a year, definitely look into flushing it. It is really simple, just 45 minutes with straight vinegar
