Flight was to leave out of CLT tonight at 8:55 PM from a plane from Memphis. Technical difficulties caused the plane to be put in to maintenance. Backup plane was coming from JFK, which couldn’t fly because of weather. I’m not an OT baller, but it will cost me a few hundred dollars in time that I have to take tomorrow. Missed meetings.

What is my recourse?

For weather or maintenance, nothing.

I loathe CLT and AA for this very reason too. Every. Single. Time. Something like that happens when flying through CLT

Nothing.

You can try to convince American to give you compensation but I wouldn't bother. American is the worst about that kind of thing, and travel delays are not unusual.

This is a reason that some people purchase trip insurance, or even choose a credit card that provides such insurance -- I think that Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and US Bank's Altitude Reserve all include trip insurance that reimburses you for expenses with delays and cancellations.

Nothing for maintenance? I've gotten put up in a hotel for the night with a dinner voucher from American for a plane issue before. I know with weather, you're SOL though.

Maybe a voucher for a few hundred.

If the meetings are that important, make sure you give yourself enough time to allow for delays.

From the airline---likely nothing, or if you're especially persuasive, a minimal voucher.

If you travel regularly, it's to be expected. Airlines can't control the weather. Either purchase travel insurance, or get a business credit card that provides trip delay insurance and use that CC to make your travel purchases.

Most businesses know this could be an issue anytime. If it is a huge meeting or conference or whatever that’s why most people fly in the day before. It can always happen.

I cant stand CLT and will spend more money just so I do not have to fly through there. Its always something and planes never leave on time.

AA is the worst. We've been delayed/missed connections on 5 of our last 6 with them. We're done.
