It’s like the Whipping Post of Christmas songs. It’s a nice tune, but cut it in half and make it better.

Feel Good Hit of the Summer has way fewer lyrics and is a great song. Poor hot take.

I think you are failing to appreciate the lyrical rhythm, symbology and imagery of Rum pa pa pum with an actual drum.

That's the thing about the song when you start to read between the lines and understand what it's really about - there isn't a drum at all.

Think about it. The kid says he has no gift, but we are supposed to think he has a drum with him. Well, toddlers love banging on drums so a drum would've been a great gift. But there is no drum so he doesn't have a gift.

So instead of a gift he says he'll play his "drum" for baby Jesus. Mary and Joseph are probably looking at each other like wtf is this psycho kid talking about.

Then the kid starts making drum noises. RUM PA PUM PUM. RUM PA PUM PUM. RUM PA PUM PUM.

Ever had some weirdo kid come up to you and just start doing weirdo shite? That's what the song is about.

It has that creepy undertone for a Christmas song, and that makes it great IMO.

Dude (or dudette) with the name of

has little right to make fun of any lyrics... that he hasn't taken the time to understand.

to quote the hint: Jumping the shark is the moment when something that was once popular, but that no longer warrants the attention it previously received, makes an attempt at publicity, which only serves to highlight its irrelevance.

And you thought you could pull the wool over our eyes...

When half the lyrics are “A Rumpa Pum Pum,” you may have written a bad song.
