Hopped ITT just to post this, and you beat me to it.

The brief bit in the middle is nice, but the real good shite starts at the 2:50 mark and goes all the way to the fade. Just magic.

I can't think of a specific song with a solo, but If we talking R&B music I gotta throw Mint Condition in the mix. In a era where R&B music had largely gone away from using actual instruments, Mint stayed true to themselves and remained a true band using only live instruments and playing all the instruments themselves. They were 90s, and so their time is up now, but definitely the last true R&B band though.

Not really a solo but I do love listening to the guitar in this song and how he follows the singer.

Stevie Ray plays on China Girl by David Bowie and maybe a few other cuts on that record.

Duane Allman wrote the riff and plays the solo on Layla by Eric Clapton (Derek & the Dominies)

Clapton plays the solo on My Guitar Gently Weeps by the Beatles

Rihanna's touring guitarist is Nuno Bettencourt so her live shows have tons of rock guitar in them.
