This actually affects folks in three parishes; Ascension, Iberville and EBR who are on this system now.

Folks in those areas should be vigilant and study the plan and it’s impact on those being served now and in the future.

It depends on the type of system. You can get really expensive with a totally enclosed wastewater treatment plant that scrubs emissions or really cheap with a totally open oxidation pond system or somewhere in between. The former is high maintenance and expensive and the latter is low maintenance and cheap. Like most things in life it all depends on what you want and how much you are willing to spend. Just know that winds in south Louisianan predominately are from the south and southeast. If the wastewater treatment plant is near you hopefully you're on the south side. Otherwise keep a 1 mile radius if the smell bothers you.
