I have been looking at a long term position in ET because of the super tanker project. I think that would be huge for them if it gets completed. I know their recent quarterly profit missed but everything looks good for future earnings. I don't understand why they are paying such a high dividend.

Any input would be appreciated.

Have you ever heard of Energy Fintwit (#EFT)? No? Get the twitters on your phone and look up mrs. skilling...have a white claw while you're at it.

My short answer is "yes". I think it's a name that was already beaten down (for good reason) and then the entire midstream sector has taken quite the beating over the last 6 months.

I wouldn't advise anyone to buy into ET, but I myself, am.

not really. Don't get caught up in those headlines for MLPs

They kind of aren't. Unit price is taking a beating so yield is naturally higher. Their coverage this past quarter was 1.9X, and self funding cqpital projects with the 0.9.

I would advise against it simply because not only the sentiment on that sector is out of whack, ET has also made enemies in Wall Street. Double whammy.
But yeah, the fundamentals are there.

The energy fin twit mob led by Mr Skilling is one of the greatest gifts of the internet/twitter. Have been following since the beginning. There’s only a few midstream names I would consider touching and ET isn’t one of them. Long only investors are fleeing midstream in droves. Would also consider reading mlpguy.com each week if you’re interested in the space.

I’ve owned it since before the merger and it was ETP. I’m down 20% at this point, and it just never seems to get out of its own way. The dividend is pretty high. I collect almost 50 shares this year through the drip.
I’m in no man’s land with it, so I keep it. Would I get into it today? Probably not.

They won’t be the ones to get the tanker project done. Don’t invest based on that.

Yeah the market can only support one of those. It's going to be a race. Right now EPD has the lead with their Chevron contract. Think they even went FID a quarter ago.

Sold at 12.30 not bad. I know I said long term but figured I would take the profit and see where it goes.
