Living room with coffee.

Slept in this morning. Lost first deer yesterday. Would have been first public land kill. Was hunting from the ground on a bayou crossing watching a couple does cross about 75yds up. When all of a sudden doe walks out at 7yds. Never heard her walk in , never saw her until then and she never saw me.

Had a tree between us, I draw, shoot at 5yds. Smoked a limb from the downed tree I was sitting in. Thought I missed her completely. Sat another hour, got up to go find arrow. Only had about 10" of it and it was covered. Backed out. Went and got help. No bubbles in blood, not dark blood, no gut smell on arrow. We searched for 5hrs. Found 5 piles of blood like the pic shows for about 100yds and then nothing, not a spec of blood aft the last one.

Thinking the limb deflection caught her in no man's land in high shoulder or backside of the neck. Hope she survives.

That looks like a dead deer. Borderline lung shot. Blood is bright as shite.

Exactly what I was thinking. No bubbles in it though. Found 5 piles of blood just like that in a stretch of about 100yds. Found 1 spec about 20yds past the last pile and I mean a spec.

Stand in the woods looking down a long trail with a molasses stump about 300 yds away.
Cold white bottles on deck

Put my uncle on the stand where I saw a bunch of diss yesterday. Poor fella needs to redeem himself after missing the last 2 shots last season.

It is beautiful in Fayette. Father in law and my 2 brothers in law are in a big club there. Went on a couple work weekends to justify my guest hunt this season.

Way back in my younger years, I used to be one sneaky SOB on deer and able to pick out one that I wanted. Learn a lot in recon.
