looking to switch it up this year. Want something modest and tasteful.

I’m thinking a colored strand and a white icicle below? Any ideas?

Give me more info. Hard to follow. Are you wanting this hanging off the shingles bordering your house? Flower beds? Porch ?

It’s really a personal preference I would guess but I’m partial to the white C-9s. You can get the clips and follow the lines and peaks of the house. If you want to get real fancy can follow the upper ridges. They also have steaks that can go into the ground to line beds and sidewalks. I use to do this during the off grass cutting season. You can buy spools of this on eBay amazon for relatively cheap. You can also run a pretty good length per outlet.

I’ve never cared for the ice cycle lights as they just look aweful as well as get dirty fast so they look even worse during the day. But agai its a personal preference.

Anything white lights only works imo. Our whole street does it and I don’t think any of it is in bad taste

Can't go wrong with just the classic clear mini lights. Just put them in some bushes and hang a wreath on the door and you are set

There are some new LED outdoor bulbs that are opaque like the old school C9's. I am switching some over to that look, this year. Gives a softer glow.

Here's an idea or two for you. I prefer the top one, but you said you had a single story ranch, so it might not work.

This is what I do. My entire roof line gets lined with white C-9's.
